Events: The Port Isabel Chamber hosts several annual events including the World’s Championship Shrimp Cook-Off (the first Sunday in November), the Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk (the second Saturday in January), the Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade (first Saturday in December) and an Annual Awards Banquet (April).

Annually, the Chamber publishes a Visitors Guide and distributes 30,000 copies across the Rio Grande Valley and the state of Texas. Advertising campaigns in Texas Monthly, the Texas State Travel Guide and links online that offer a copy mailed free of charge have resulted in requests from nearly every state in the Union and several Canadian provinces.
